About the Project
The Climate and Community Resilience Hubs of Connecticut initiative has launched a 14-month planning phase to establish resilience hubs in Hartford, New Haven, and Bridgeport. This effort is led by North Hartford Partnership in partnership with Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven and Greater Bridgeport Community Enterprises with assistance from Leading Culture Solutions and Unity Climate Solutions. The planning phase is supported by a $150,000 study grant from M&T Bank.

What is a Climate Resilience Hub?
A neighborhood center that supports local residents before, during, and after natural or human-made disasters — such as hurricanes, extreme heat events, water main breaks, or power outages. A climate resilience hub is a place people come to because they already trust the facility — not just during emergencies.
Trusted Place
Libraries, YMCAs, churches, and schools — community anchors which people already rely on every day
Clean Energy Core
Solar panels, battery storage, backup power, A/C, medication refrigeration, and emergency communications — ensuring continuity when the grid fails
Year Round Value
Job skills training, food distribution, internet access, health screenings, financial coaching, and youth programs — before they ever function as emergency centers
Focus Area
Our initiative focuses on the most climate-vulnerable neighborhoods in three Connecticut cities.
Hartford
Neighborhoods: Northeast, Clay Arsenal, Upper Albany
New Haven
Neighborhoods: Dixwell, Beaver Hills, Dwight, Edgewood, and West River
Bridgeport
Neighborhoods: The South, East, and West End communities bordering Long Island Sound
Our Three Goals
The initiative aims to support mid-sized cities across the state in tackling climate, economic, and equity challenges — creating a clear, practical approach that can serve as a model for other communities statewide and nationwide.

Making it easier for everyone to use energy-efficient technologies
Economic Resilience
Connecting people with information and training programs to pursue green careers
